EAT WELL FOR A BRAIN THAT WORKS WELL
Would you fill your car with poor quality gasoline? Of course not! You know that your car would not perform well, and wouldn't get good milage.
Yet, how many teenagers fill their fuel tank with poor quality food?
They frequently eat fried foods, saturated fats, and high sugar foods.
Did you know that a container of french fries and a fast food burger can contain more transfats than anyone should have in a month. Given that transfats clog the brain neurotransmitters, its smart to eliminate them from the diet. Yet, many kids eat that kind of a meal at least twice a week. Doesn't it make sense that if you eat poor quality food, your brain, which depends on food for its fuel, may have difficulty with focus, concentration, and recall.
Academic preparation is vital to help raise SAT scores, but without good concentration, focus, and recall kids can be at loss.
It is important for families to eat healthier and start to cut down or eliminate poor quality meals from fast food restaurants or packaged process foods. Real food like fresh fruits, salads and vegetables provide real enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which are all healthy fuel for the brain.
Did you know that the brain is composed of a large percentage of fat and that healthy fats like olive oil and Omega 3's are essential for healthy brain function. However, did you also know that trans fats that are in many cakes, chips, cookies, breads, fried foods and packaged processed foods can actually interfere and clog healthy brain function that is necesarry for learning.
